Thailand issues 4 draft regulations on food containing cannabis

On June 6, 2022, the food and Drug Administration of Thailand issued announcement No. 213 to solicit opinions on four food regulations containing cannabis. The main contents include:

 (1) the content of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in cannabis protein (protein powder) derived from cannabis seeds shall not exceed 2mg / kg, and the content of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in cannabis protein concentrate (protein isolate) derived from cannabis seeds shall not exceed 0.15mg/kg; 

(2) It stipulates that the content of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in prepackaged condiments, soy sauce, fish sauce and other products shall not exceed 0.0032% (by weight), and also specifies the labeling requirements for foods containing cannabis; 

(3) It is stipulated that the intake of cannabinoid in food supplements shall not exceed 55mg per day, and the content of tetrahydrocannabinol shall not exceed 0.2% (by weight); 

(4) Formulate the standard for solid plant tea (solid) containing hemp leaves, including the definition and classification, ingredient requirements (the content of hemp leaves in each consumption shall not exceed 1g), label requirements (warning words such as "children, pregnant women and lactating women shall not eat", "may cause sleepiness" and so on) and so on. The consultation period for the above draft is until July 8, 2022.
